When will Obama get a fair shake? (or, a forward to "The Nation of the Offended")
Those of you who may remember my previous blog "Brutally Honest By Berkeley" may remember the lengthy political posts I used to make. In light of the ongoing struggle with the Democratic primary, I figured I'd throw in my opinion.I watched (most) last night's debate on ABC and by the time I switched the channel, I basically felt like it was crap. Not so much because of any cynicism about politics, but because all the media cares about are bullshit distractions like Obama's pastor or "Bittergate". What's worse is that he actually has to apologize or distance himself from any of it.
As a white male, I would say I agree with Jeremiah Wright that this country is run by rich white men, and I also think that is unfortunate. I also agree that U.S. is at least partly culpable for what happened on 9/11, even if it was unintentional. Look, globalization is real and America is at the center of it. Anyone who understands globalization knows that the "Americanization" of the world is practically unstoppable. Can you blame the Muslim world for resenting the way we've intruded on their way of life? I can not.
As for the whole bitterness thing, any many ways it's the truth. Let me tell you, in the past 7+ years of the Bush administration, I've been plenty of reasons to cling to religion- I pray constantly that we'll all live to see 1/20/2009. AND.. this is a result of bitterness. I am not a sportsman- I cling to my .38 special because yes I am bitter. Anybody that tries to tell you that Dems are not bitter is blowing smoke.
What all of this bogus media coverage has done is insure that if Obama is not the Democratic nominee, I doubt I'll vote this November. I will become cynical and it will be tragic. Whatever respect I ever had for Hillary is long gone. I can't believe I'm agreeing with my red family members when I say I really think she's conniving and deceitful (putting it mildly).
Obama '08 !
